This contrail appeared above the E horizon around lunchtime today, while I was out walking. The photo doesn’t really do it justice. When I turned around and happened to notice the thing, it looked like the vapor trail left by a straight-up rocket launch, and there was no sign of an airplane at or near the top end of the contrail (the pale blur to the left of the upper contrail tip is a bird). However, there also were no official rocket launches in that direction, so I’d say it’s a good example of an “FLC” (false-launch-contrail).
